Alan is a member of the Green-Blue Board of Directors, and has been a member of the SPC executive committee for the past three years. He is an advocate for life cycle thinking as a critical element of package design and is delighted to be talking about the Global Packaging Project Sustainability metrics.

Plasco Energy uses proprietary technologies to convert municipal solid waste, without air emissions, to saleable products, with less than one tenth of 1% of the original weight requiring disposal.  The primary product is synthetic gas to fuel internal combustion engines. image

Scott is the CEO and Founder (2000) of the Product Stewardship Institute (PSI). Scott has served as the Director of Waste Policy and Planning for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Environmental Affairs. He is a founding Board Member of the North American Hazardous Materials Management Association and the Global Product Stewardship Council, which harmonizes product stewardship programs internationally.

Elisabeth joined the company in 2006 as Environment Manager for Europe where she helped define and drive Tetra Pak's environmental strategy. Since 2010, she has been based in the US, focusing on advancing the Tetra Pak's commitment to sustainability and recycling in the US and Canada. He is currently working in the global packaging sustainability organization, where he leads a global network of packaging engineers. This network provides support to all P&G businesses to help them create plans to achieve 202 specified goals and to ensure sustainability is part of the P&G packaging culture. Keith is an active member in the Walmart Packaging Scorecard Supplier Team (PSST), the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, Ameripen, and one of the founding members of PAC NEXT.

Michael Goeres – Executive Director, Canadian Council of the Ministers of the Environment
CCME is comprised of Canadian environment ministers from the federal, provincial and territorial governments. 14 ministers set the strategic direction for the Council, discuss national environmental priorities and determine work to be carried out under the auspices of CCME. Working collaboratively, the working groups develop recommendations for ministers' consideration. Once approved, these products are used by CCME's member governments in their environmental management role. CCME is not another level of government regulator, but a council of government ministers holding similar responsibilities.

Under Michaels leadership, in 2011 CCME invited eight industry representatives to sit on a CCME Industry task group to discuss Packaging Reduction through Optimization. Representing industry were PAC – The Packaging Association, the Retail Council of Canada, Food and Consumer Products Canada, Walmart Canada, Kraft Canada, Tim Horton’s, Starbucks and Cascades

Marina coordinates many scientific committees such as the Joint Committee on Recyclable Materials, the Polystyrene Committee, the Glass Recycling and Emergent Materials Committee and the Environmental Criteria Committee.

Anthony M. Watanabe – CEO and Founder, Innovolve Group
Dr. Watanabe has been working with businesses and governments to help them transform markets to sustainability. Since 2009, Anthony has been part of a global team promoting the market transformation to zero energy housing. In December 2011, Dr. Watanabe was invited by the International Energy Agency to present this work in Delhi, India at a workshop hosted by the International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC). Innovolve now runs an annual water summit and produces water intelligence reports for industry and government.

innovolveAnthony and his team are very active in the packaging sector, working with groups like P&G, Bayer and the Sustainable Packaging Coalition. Innovolve worked with PAC to help crystallize both the model and the marketing for what has become PAC NEXT, an industry collaboration imagining “A World Without Packaging Waste”.
